My husband has been struggling with kidney stones for about 20
years. This past month he passed 11 stones. They finally
diagnosed him, he has-
Cystinuria is an inherited metabolic disorder characterized by
the abnormal movement (transport) in the intestines and
kidneys, of certain organic chemical compounds (amino acids).
These include cystine, lysine, arginine, and ornithine.
Excessive amounts of undissolved cystine in the urine
(cystinuria) cause the formation of stones (calculi) in the
kidney, bladder, and/or ureter.
In past he was diagnosed with diabetes, gout & high BP.
With the cystineria (methionine free diet) he has to be animal protein free.Pretty much Sodium free. No soy either. He can't
eat seafood including fish either. Very very limited eggs,
cheese & dairy in recipes. ( he would like to try to go
without this in hopes he will feel better)
Very low sugar and must drink 1 gallon of fluid per day.
The products that trigger his gout are: He's been away from
these products for 10 years.
Peanuts, cashews
Spinach
asparagus
cauliflower
beef/pork
pretzels
Please help me with recipes, Stat show that there is 50%
chance one of our children will get it.(cystineria) I want to
just put the whole family on it to make it easier. So we need
to go basically vegan.
I would like input and ideas on recipes. Please e-mail me
suggestions and input.
