Apparently he and his associates always figured it would be some fish or other sea creature that would get him. On land, and with reptiles, he knew what the croc/snake/etc was going to do before it did it, and he was too quick for them.

I always knew some creature would get him, though. You can't imagine Steve Irwin dying of old age in a nursing home, can you?
