Sorry for the delay in answering! I used regular, because I don't seem to be able to find blackstrap molasses in the local stores. I think blackstrap would be good, but maybe overwhelm the cranberry flavor.

It's funny that I was just thinking about this recipe yesterday! I recall that the original said it could be made with blueberries, too. I'd be interested to hear if anyone tried it with blueberries. I'm thinking it might be good with raisins, also, topped with a vegan custard or banilla soy ice cream. Unfortunately I always run out of frozen cranberries by spring.
