More CWD turns up at Wind Cave National Park

Associated Press

WIND CAVE NATIONAL PARK, S.D. - Four more cases of chronic wasting disease
have turned up in Wind Cave National Park.

The fatal disease has been confirmed in three deer and one elk, park
officials said.

The park has been monitoring deer and elk herds for several years and
information gleaned from the animals will help researchers better understand
the disease, said Dan Roddy, the park's resource management specialist.

Since 1998, 114 deer and 21 elk have been tested for chronic wasting
disease. Of those, eight deer and four elk have tested positive.
