Terry Warne's son, 36-year-old Chris, died from Creutzfeld Jakob Disease in October, 1997. Mr Warne, 72, suffered from Parkinson's disease for 14 years and died on February 3 at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, two days after having a stroke. Mr Warne and his wife Shirley, 67, campaigned to raise awareness of CJD following their son's death. Shirley Warne led mourners into a packed All Saints' Church, in Church Street, Ripley, for yesterday's service. The Rev Adrian Butt paid tribute to Mr Warne, his friend of 60 years. A keen sportsman, Mr Warne established the Chris Warne Memorial Shield as an annual cricket competition. He was a lifelong Derby County FC supporter, a cricket umpire in the Derbyshire League for 20 years and he enjoyed rugby and walking. He worked in the textile industry TSS
