5 January 2005 - BSE has been diagnosed in a cow born in Nov 1999

A BSE case born in November 1999
BSE has been diagnosed in a Meuse Rhine Issel cow, born on 12
November 1999, 39 months after 1 August 1996, when extra control
measures on animal feed containing mammalian meat and bone meal
(MMBM) were considered to have been fully implemented. The animal
was taken under the active surveillance programme and sampled at
slaughter in an OTMS abattoir. Its farm of birth was in Wiltshire but it was
moved at 18 months of age to a farm in Northamptonshire, where it remained
until it was sent for slaughter on 27 October 2004. Disease was officially
confirmed on 5 January 2005.
