The questions over whether USDA Secretary Ann Veneman will stay in her
post for a second Bush term appear to have been answered, as Pro Farmer
Washington consultant Jim Wiesemeyer informs that his sources signal
Veneman handed in her letter of resignation to President Bush last
Friday, Nov. 12.
Veneman's apparent exit brings to four the number of Cabinet
officials in the Bush administration who have tendered their
resignations, with Attorney General John Ashcroft, Commerce Sec.
Donald Evans doing so in the days following the Nov. 2 elections and
indications that Secretary of State Colin Powell is also leaving the
Bush team.
For more information and perspective on the situation at USDA with
Veneman tendering her resignation, check Jim Wiesemeyer's Inside
Washington Today located in the Pro Farmer Members area for more.
