The Department of Health has rejected reports the State's first case of
variant CJD had been linked to the eating of hamburgers.

Doctors involved in the case say it would be impossible for any
investigation to trace a person's eating habits over a 15-year period.

The 23-year old man diagnosed with the human form of mad cow disease
remains seriously ill at a Dublin hospital.
