Perhaps you could post this reply to you recent posting on the VegSource
discussion board?
Thanks

This looks like another excellent study that is slowly giving the lie to the
simplistic blandishments from the CDC and USDA regarding "no vCJD" has ever
been found in the USA.
In a nutshell, if people with the V/V genetic background are infected with
BSE, they may have a non vCJD phenotype and thus in the US would be
"cleared" from any disease related to eating tainted beef. V/V homozygotes,
although not quite as common as M/M, still comprise a significant portion of
the population.
One question from this study is: is there such a thing as a V/V or an M/V
symptom-free carrier? A person who is carrying the BSE prions, who has not
yet come down with symptoms, but still harbors a sub-clinical infection, and
via surgery, corneal grafts, blood transfusion is capable of passing the
infectious prions to an M/M acceptor and thus cause them to come down with
symptoms.
As my new book Brain Trust ( see http://www.colmkelleher.com )points out,
there is also a correlation in people with M/M or V/V 129 locus and coming
down with early onset Alzheimer's Disease, providing yet another confusing
overlap between CJD and Alzheimer's disease.

HELLO COLM,

AS you have found on the madcow board i post to here,
I have been concerned about this for some time and
posted this data long before you published your book;

COLM,

TO bad you could not have mentioned my endeavors to find the
truth the last 6 years+ about the death of my mom to the
Heidenhain Variant CJD and all the data you got for your book
from me and this board, but that is usually the case with authors
writing about this nightmare that come to me.

i must stay focused, however it is becoming more and more difficult.
i said i would stop if it came to this? this is final plug for your
book. from now on, get janet skarbek to plug it.........

Mr. Singeltary,
I have followed your web site discussions for a long time because I believe
the problem still lies below the radar of the American public. As a research
scientist I have followed the incredible prion story for years. Following
the outbreak of BSE in Mabton WA in December I was moved to write a book in
order to lay out for the American public what is coming down the pike. That
book, called Brain Trust, arrived in stores nationwide this weekend. It is
also on Amazon.com.
You can find details on: http://www.colmkelleher.com

I would like to send you a copy for review, can you give me your mailing
address?
Thank you
Colm A Kelleher PhD
