MAD COW: OLD WOMAN DIES IN CALABRIA, AUTOPSY
(AGI) - Paola (Cosenza), Italy, Oct.16 - A 70 year-old woman from
Dipignano (Cosenza), apparently suffering from BSE, the mad cow disease,
passed away. She was hospitalised, in a coma, at a private clinic. The
Attorney Office of Paola ordered an autopsy, to be carried out next
Monday in a specialised structure in Brindisi. Paola's LHU director
Piero Borsani had made an official declaration, stating that the woman
went into a coma after having contracted the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease,
but also added that it wasn't due to the eating of infected meat. (AGI) -
