USDA said after the Dec. 23, 2003 finding of BSE in the USA
that they were to stop using captive bolt stunning. I do not
know the exact date the ban was to go in effect. little late
if you consider Tam et al findings that ;

Garland et al Lancet Sept 1996 Letters to the editor

here it showed a color photo of 14.5 cm of brain tissue in the lung.
it had already gone through the heart. In there unpublished work they
found 16.5 cm
of brain tissue in the liver, which means it blew through the heart and
lungs to arrive
in arterial circulation...

to bad Tam et al was not taken seriously back then. she had proven work that
was ignored. this has serious implications for humans in the USA and abroad...

Thanks for the info...the battle continues. On the subject, does anyone know about the rumor that captive bolt may no longer be used per the USDA and Ann Venemon's attempts (as sorry as they may be) to enforce the Humane Slaughter Act? And what would they use instead, is what I want to know. Thanks!
