Windsor hospital handling suspected case of human `mad cow' disease But officials at Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital say there's no risk of transmission of the fatal nerve disease. Hospital C-E-O Neil McEvoy says the illness is NOT spread by casual contact. One form of the illness has been linked to mad cow disease. But the hospital says that's not what they're looking at in Windsor. They call it a classic case of Creutzfeldt-Jakob, which can be inherited. Canada has confirmed five cases of `mad cow' disease in cattle since May-2003. Contaminated meat products have been linked to more than 150 human deaths, mostly in Britain.
