During my junior college Geology training, the professor scheduled a class field trip to Zion National Park. As this national park has a marked "geology theme" most of the lectures were about the geologic history of the park and the rangers modtly had a geology degrees. The rangers gave us a super lectures about the geologic history of the park and the region. During the question-answer phase following their excellent lectures, I asked one if any of the guests had ever asked the rangers any strange questions. THe ranger answered that one guest had asked about the Navajo Sandstone, a prominent geologic formation. The question was: "was the Navajo Sandstone naturally occuring, or was it built by the Navajo Indians ?." This calls for an image of an army of Indians each with a wheelbarrow, sweating in the hot sun, wondering when the superintendent would decree the job finished ??
