my name is emily and i have had the same problems. i am only 15. back in feb. of 2008 i got pneumonia in my right lung and pluralsy in my left... ever since then it would reoccur, i started gaining weight i went from weighing 120 lbs to 152 lbs in a few months(not very normal for a 15 year old girl who gets daily excersice), my appetite increase greatly my mood changed and i was very depressed for no reason. so i went to the doctors he noticed my thyroid was enlarged, he suggested hypothyroidism because of my weight gain so he tested for tht, but my lab test showed hyperthyroidism. when you hav hyperthyroidism you usually lose weight.. but i was one of those rare cases of hyperthyroidism that gained weight. he suspected graves disease, but i dont know yet because he is sending me to an endocrynologist who will fully diagnose it.
