The vitamins that keep the respiratory tract (nose, sinuses, bronchi and lungs) healthy are A and C. Polutants in the air destroy Vit A. In order to have a healthy breathing anatomy you need to take Vit A - but to protect it and make sure it isn't destroyed you need Vit E. However, since these are both "oil" vitamins, you have to begin with a low dose and build up slowly until you can begin to feel a difference. 400 IU E is the best to begin with - 1 in AM, 1 in PM. Along with each dose take 1-2 A's in the form of cod liver oil capsules. Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin. That means your body will use what it needs within 2-3 hours, then get rid of it. If you really have a problem, then you need to be taking about 1,000 mill. C about every 3-4 hours. If you begin having any problems with the C, you may need the non-citric C in the form of rosehips. There has been a lot said about taking "too much A & E". And it's true, if your body doesn't need much, it will begin to build up in your liver. However, if you have a need for it, there will be no problem. Begin with the single dose and gradually build up about every 2 weeks, 1 pill at a time. If you ever get worried you're taking too much after you have found a dosage that's working, just cut back for a week. If the symptoms come back, you'll know you're using every bit you're taking and it isn't building up anywhere! I know from experience! Wishing you success and a good deep breath of air! Lynn
