i just wanted to share a very happy discovery i made recently (thanks to the advice of a person at my local health food store-Mother's Market for anyone in southern cali) i have struggled for years with dandruff (sebborheic dermatitis as the doctor tells me it's officially knows--basicall and excessiv fungal growth, i guess candida) which included bad itching and flaking of my scalp. I tried every natural product i could find (since i try to avoid clinical meds when i can) and nothing worked, not tea tree, not grapeseed extract, not neem, nothing helped, so finally went to the dermatologist who put me on this medicated shampoo that got rid of the problem for about a while at first, but if i ever ran out and had to use a different shampoo, it'd take at least two weeks before i could get relief again. and, as is the case sometimes with drugs, over time, the relief lasted less and less and no improvements after 3 years and the doctor was at a loss for what else to suggest, etc. it was bad, until i randomly mentioned this to an employee at my local natural food store, and she said she had the same problems and used OIL OF OREGANO to cure it, which apparently is on e of the strongest types of anti-fungal oils around, and obviously totally natural (it's concentrated in a base of olive oil, nothing else!). After just 2 treatments, I had full relief, no more itching, no more flaking, nothing, all gone, in a flash, and supposedy it's not necessary to do every time you wash your hair, maybe just at first until you get the problem under control, then as a maintenece, once a week or so, until you can go fo rlong periods without it, then it could be that you cured it, and if it comes back, try again. but i'm so happy so far, a whole month and no dandruff...i am able to use my natural (lamas) shampoo and conditioners and it's great. i suffered with it for so many years, and it even caused some hair loss (not sure if that was the dandruff or the medicated shampoo), and for women this really sucks, so i can't tell you how wonderful this discovery was for me,a nd i just wanted to share so taht maybe somebody else will have some sucess with it too. obviously it's not guarantee, we're all different, maybe it work work for other people like it did for me, but i would have loved to have had someone tell me about this years ago and to have saved myself so much hassle and expense on prescriptions not covered by my insurence, etc. So i thought it might help someoone reading this and thats cool. good luck. (oh, how i used it was to drip it directly onto my scalp, all over-not on the hair, cause that's just wasting it-and just rub it in and make sure the whole scalp is covered, and then just sit with it for about 15min to half hour, the longer the better of course, depends on how much time you have, and then just shampoo a couple of times with a good rich natural shampoo, i like the Rice Protein on from Lamas, but have also had success with Jason brand products, and then use a good conditioner, and that's it--only side effect, its oregano, so my boyfriend teases me that my hair smells like pizza when i get out of the shower, but that's a small price to pay :) and it covers up by the time i put on styling gel, etc. also, it does tingle quite a bit, especially at first use, but you get used to it, and the less dandruff you have, the more it works, the less the tingling occurs, i think it is what tells me it's working or something, because over time, i get less tingling, so maybe i've got less dandruff to kill, i dunno. But don't worry, the tingling thing goes away once you have thouroughly shampooed the oil out of your hair, and if it tingles on your neck or skin, don't worrry, that goes away too, no rashes for me at least, depends on how sensitive you are maybe? anyhow, that's just some details fyi..tootles)
