I've heard that gargling with apple cider vinegar (about 1 teaspoon in a small glass of water) is supposed to kill the strep. I would be careful in a child, though, and make sure she is not in danger of developing rheumatic fever. If your doc gives out too many antibiotics, maybe find another good doc who can help you find a better solution and still watch her for complications that could give her worse problems.
