Salt and most forms of sodium can raise blood pressure in some people, but does not have that effect in many others.

Most healthy lifestyle resources recommend not consuming more that 2 grams (2000 milligrams) daily for many reasons, but those with elevated blood pressure should limit sodium to one gram or less.

It's very difficult to accurately estimate sodium in restaurant meals, which typically are very high, often more than 2 grams in a single serving. Canned and processed foods are also usually high.

For those whose blood pressure is not effected by salt, adding more sodium to one's diet would not likely have an effect on dizziness or lightheadedness upon rising suddenly.
