You are absolutely correct in assuming that the cause of a TIA (transient ischemic attack or mini-stroke) is the plaque laden arteries that result in heart attacks.
And there is documented scientific evidence that a single high-fat meal can cause a stroke or heart attack. Your cognitive deficit after pizza or other high fat intake is not all that rare.
It's great to hear that you've learned your lesson. I hope you won't soon forget it.

I eat pizza these days, but it's all veggie and no cheese. Made with a little extra sauce on a thin crust and some extra oregano and basil on top, it can be surprisingly good - and heart healthy, too.
