Thanks Dr Neal.
Can you from your experience kindly advise the average time required for this to happen without Cholesterol lowering medication ?
I checked mine after 3 months on Ornish/Esselstyn lifestyle and the levels were TC-178; LDL 116; TRI-54: HDL-39 without cholesterol medication.I unfortunately have no baseline info on my Cholesterol levels when on regular diet and lifestyle.
With 80mg Lipitor on which I was put after my cardiac event, after 4 weeks my corresponding levels were 90/39/35/35(extremely low).I am intolerant to Statins even at lowest dosage so had to stop it.After Lipitor tried Crestor.Did not work either. My doctor has recommended considering a Combination of Niacin and Easytrol.
I was wondering if my levels can eventually come down with Ornish/Esselstyn Lifestyle to the target levels of TC 150/ LDL 70- 80 without medication. If you have seen a gradual decline in Cholesterol values in your support group, I shall be glad and highly encouraged to know about it and get more motivated. In the interim period I can take alternatives to statins.
I wish to compliment you on the valuable resource you have created in this forum and it is helping many like me to stay on-course and re-gain control of our lives.Thank you.
Your view and comments will be highly appreciated.
warm regards
