Subject:         Okinawan Diet

What is your general opinion of the diet of the Okinawans as a reversal diet? I am talking about the traditional diet which was, from my information, had a macronutrient breakdown of 85% carbohydrate, 9% protein and 6% fat. Oils provided about 2% of total calories. Nuts and seeds provided < 1% of the total calories as did each of meat, fish, eggs and dairy. Sweet potatoes provided 69% of the total calories! My data is from 1949, which I suspect reveals a more realistic view of how they ate prior to WW2.
