| Subject: | Carodid Artery Calcium Presence |

Hi Dr. Pickney,
Just came back frm my cardiologist / GP who performed a general physical, blood test and a sonogram of my Carotid Artery and heart.
The heart sonogram was perfect. The Carotid Artery on the left side found very slight calcium. He recommended that I get the calcium scoring test for my heart, which I am doing (I read your previous postings about this subject) and he is also sending the sonogram results to a radiologist for further study in order to determine if this serious.
I am a little taken back by this, as you might recall I have been following Dr Esselstyn pgm fervently for 6.5 yrs. I am 55 yrs old. My current weight is 181 (down from 325 on pgm start) (6'1'' tall). Still awaiting cholesterol numbers, but last test 2 yrs ago and total cholestrol was 133. Feeling good physically. My Dad had a triple bypass at age 66 and still alive today and I have never had heart issues.
Given that I am getting ahead myself, what else can one do and the MD could prescribe to reduce the calcium deposit? I don't want to take satins and is that effective at reducing my cholesterol even further since I follow VLF. As an aside, my MD grudgingly accepts that the fact that the VLF pgm works for me but I am afraid he is following traditional protocols and is ignoring my healthy lifestyle to take account for possible treatment.
As always your thoughts appreciated.
Best,
herman
