While a vegetarian diet is highly beneficial in reducing cholesterol, dairy products, especially cheese, contain cholesterol and often high amounts of fat, which tend to raise serum cholesterol levels.

There are many factors that contribute to high cholesterol levels. The amount of fat consumed is important as well as avoiding foods that contain cholesterol. We can control those to effective lower lipids. Regular aerobic exercise can also be a big help.

Other factors include genetic tendencies and stress.
