I agree with Herman and I would like to add:
The diet of Dr. Esselstyn is my diet model and it is very simple: just plant based food and very low fat. Just 10% of the calories from fat, no oil and no avocados because they are rich on fat.
I also have statin (Crestor) to reduce cholesterol. I also have few walnut pieces to increase HDL, the good cholesterol and exercise 5 X a week, walking briskly, to reach around 110 heart BPS. My Doctor says that when we lower total cholesterol, it is normal to reduce HDL as well. It took 2 years to see HDL going up, just 5 points.
Some authors mention that the low fat diet is key, because high levels of fat (even if it is from plants) stimulate our bodies to fabric cholesterol. How is your diet regarding fat? Do you limit a 10% maximum calories from fat?
