Hi Tammi2,

In this life you have to decide who to believe and we all have differing abilities and
willingness to do that.

I choose to believe Esselstyn, McDougall and Ornish. In that order.

Also after much research. It was difficult to weed out the rubbish - Atkins, South Beach -
to find what I believe is the truth - Esselstyn, McDougall, Ornish and T Colin Campbell. I'm
not going back without a _very_ good reason.

The usual argument against his program is that 'patients don't want to change to change
their diets'; 'patients won't comply with the diet changes'. Which is true, based on personal
observation, to a stunning degree; even in people who desperately need Esselstyn's 'heart
attack proof in about three weeks'.

99% of what you post about heart attacks agrees with what I understand from my reading
- McDougall and Esselstyn. But not the following.

> And once you're older (over 50), if you follow a VLF (very low fat) diet, your risk of dying
from all other diseases skyrockets. No one tells you about the bad long-term outcomes.
It's in the literature.

Esselstyn's advice is zero further cardiac events in twenty years for compliant patients. Full
stop. To the contrary, a VLF diet, of 8 to 10% fat, is only 'very low' in terms of the US's
suicidal 30 to 40% fat diet. In terms of the Tarahumara Indians it is a Completely Normal
Fat level % of 8 to 10%.

Which is a pain, because if your other 99% is right, that might be too! Will have to research
it. But not today.

It _sounds_ like scare propaganda from the various meat marketing boards or national
dairy council, as brought to us by the Weston Price or other propaganda mills. The _usual_
scare propaganda, from the usual propaganda mills. And there is _a_lot_ of it about. There
is a lot of money for those industries riding on keeping people ignorant and confused.
And or scared. So in the absence of research I'm going with that conclusion. Temporarily(?
).

In this life you have to decide who to believe. It can be a life and death decision.
Sometimes we know that. And sometimes we have no clue. But it is still true.
