Anyone can develop an iodine deficiency, although it's not common, whether vegan or not.

Much seafood contains iodine, so it would tend to occur more in people who do not consume seafood or iodized salt (unexpectedly, natural sea salt is not a good source).

Other than seafood or plants that have grown in iodine-rich soil, the best natural source is sea vegetables, such as kelp, dulse, and most oriental seaweed products.

Since people on a reversal program usually limit salt intake, a multi-vitamin containing even a tiny amount of iodine should be all that's needed to prevent that deficiency.

If you have reason to believe you have an iodine deficiency, you should consult a physician who can order a test to determine if it is significant.
