Hi Joe. Appreciate your comments. With regard to the question about how close I came to by-pass surgery here is what happened. My first day in the hospital I failed a tread mill test. The next day - a Friday - I had the angiogram that identified my three blockages. Because I'd never been on heart meds before - beta blockers and statins - the doctor suggested that they see how I would do on them over the weekend and then re-tread test me the following Monday to see if there were any improvement. He really didn't think there would be, and as much told me so, but felt it merited an effort. His final comment to me was, "If you fail the treadmill on Monday we send you immediately for by-pass, no questions asked." Monday rolled around and not only did I pass the test but in flying colors, which stumped everyone. So, at day's end my cardiologist told me I could either proceed with the procedure or go home and try the meds for a while longer. He said that if I had any more problems with angina that I should come back in and they'd put me on the table right away. Had I failed that second treadmill on Monday I'd now be a by-pass recipient.

Yes, I was on meds over the last eight weeks - a daily 40 milligram dose of Simvistatin, and 5 milligrams of Benezepril, and of course aspirin. Since my check up this week they have reduced my Simvistatin to 20 milligrams, and considered taking me off completely, which is my goal.
