Statins have been safely taken by most people for over 20 years. As in any powerful medication, some people will experience adverse side-effects.

There is no one statin that is 'safer' for all people, as one's physician may chose a particular one for the specific condition it is used for as well as the personal medical history of the patient.

On this forum, Lipitor has been most commonly reported to have adverse side-effects, particularly muscle pain.
