I began taking Lipitor and Niaspan about 10 months ago after having angioplasty. Things were going great until about two months ago. I started having cramps, tenderness and pain in my calf musles. Also, joint pain in both ankles. Called my cardiologist and he told me to stop taking the Niaspan. I did this, but still no improvement and my hip joints are really painful. No more Lipitor for me! My cholestrol indicators were all normal prior to my angioplasty, but the cardiologist said that the sub-levels needed to be "tweaked" and he put be on Lipitor and Niaspan at the same time. I'll find some other way to "tweak" my cholesterol sub-levels other than Niaspan and Lipitor. I firmly believe that if I continue to take Lipitor, I will not be able to bend or walk in the very near future.
