I too am feeling uneasy about Lipitor. I just started it about a month ago after a mild heart attack. I am 46, am very active and I used to run 2-3miles 4 to 5 times a week before the heart attack. I am not overweight at all. I too, hate the idea of taking drugs and medicines.

About a week ago I started feeling extreme pain in one ankle. It stayed there about a day or so and finally decreased enough to walk. It is still tender, though. I don't know if this is because of the Lipitor or what.

I have discovered a book written by a doctor who has been treating high cholesterol prone patients with niacin for almost 50 years with great results. It is called "Cholesterol Control Without Diet! The Niacin Solution", by William B. Parsons Jr., M.D. I have just started reading it and am impressed. It's definitly worth a look.
