After taking Chinese red yeast rice, my total cholesterol went from 240 average to 173. But the problem is, my HDL also went down, from 39-41 down to 31 last month to 21 as of today. I have been taking this for about 3 months now. My triglycerides went down from around 190-200 down to less than 50.

Could some one tell me if my low HDL is cause for concern, enough that I should stop taking the Chinese Red Yeast rice. I am planning to take Omega-3 supplements and increase my exercise activity as well. Any response would be appreciated.
