Bob, your numbers are high but did or do your parents have high cholesterol? I am a 53 year old woman five feet tall 118llbs., could lose about eight pounds, and my numbers have been as high as 297 total, and 213 LDL, which at that time, the doctor said he had never seen anyone's LDL so high. I went on Zocor, had terrible leg pains, which my doc didn't warn me about, and then Baycol, which is now off the market and then finally Lipitor, 20 mg. a day. I seem to be ok on the Lipitor and my last numbers two weeks ago were 217, total and LDL 138. These are still I think a bit high after meds for one year. I do exercise and don't eat too much fat. My conclusion is to stop worrying, which only makes things worse. I feel it is inherited somewhat and all we can do is eat sensibly and exercise.
