I've gotten lots of good info from the books about all kinds of things, I highly recommend them, I don't have much money but am glad I bought them. Of course, vegsource's websites are so helpful I can see how you could do this without the books, but I really enjoy looking things up things up, just my own personal way of doing things, I guess (I like the links to Dr. Esselstyn, PCRM, McDougall, etc and the articles are great!). Have you been to the weightloss discussion board as well?

I've lost 30 pounds and brought my cholesteral down from 243 to 187 (so far, have more weight to lose), and the books that I've found especially helpful are "the McDougall Program for a Healthy Heart" and "McDougall for Women", and Ornish's books, but also books by Dr. Neal Barnard ("Eat Right, Live Longer" and "Foods that Fight Pain"). All of them use references to carefully support their claims (so important to me). Barnard is head of the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine (I think Ornish and McDougall are members), and the website PCRM.org has good nutrition info.

You can buy used books cheaply through half.com, I do it a lot and haven't had any trouble yet (started about a year ago), in case you are looking for a cheaper way to get books.

Hope this helps, best of luck,
Mary
