Not necessarily. Although a reduction in estrogen production may indirectly elevate cholesterol slightly, normal aging may be more influential. Cholesterol tends to rise in both men and women as they age.
A modified diet and regular exercise, which also has been shown to reduce much of the discomfort that is commonly associated with menopause, is the most effective natural way to lower cholesterol.
