White rice is mostly starch, with little fiber or other nutrients. In some people, high quantities of starches, when combined with other simple carbohydrates, can contribute to higher trigyceride levels.

Brown rice, which is a whole grain, would be much less likely to have an unwanted effect on blood triglyceride levels. It also contains three times the fiber and many more nutrients than white rice.

Often, people don't realize that brown rice and white rice are the same grain, but in white rice the bran and germ, the most healthful parts, are removed.
