Aerobics are the best exercise for lowering lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides). At least fifteen minutes (without stopping) of repeated movement of major muscle groups. Brisk walking, cycling, stair-stepping, swimming are only a few of the many ways one can get aerobic exercise. The recommended amount is at least 45 minutes a day, at least six days a week. It can be in segments of 15 minutes or longer, or in one single session.

Tennis does not usually provide aerobic benefits, since it has spurts of movement and then periods of waiting.

Please see the section on exercise on the Healing Heart Foundation website (link at the top of this page).
