Warfarin (Coumadin, Panwarfin) is an anticoagulant which can help prevent the formation of blood clots which can block the flow of blood to vital organs.
Some cholesterol lowering medications may interfere with the absorption of warfarin (and other drugs used to treat heart disease). Warfarin interacts with a wide variety of drugs. It is important that the prescribing physician be aware of all medications taken.
While some leafy green vegetables and foods high in vitamin C (such as spinach and kale) can alter the effect of warfarin, most patients on this drug are not required to restrict their diet. The dosage prescribed and other factors of the patient's health would determine of any restriction was advised.
