I've discovered an even better alternative: nothing! Where is it written that one has to have "something" on or in food that tastes like milk fat (butter)?
Sure, butter is delicious and many miss the flavor, but why use fat at all?
Seasonings are the key for me. And on toast? Mashed bananna! Delicious and virtually fat-free.
