Beverly,
I've read the debate on Dr. Sears' site however I don't think I conveyed my point very well: what I was trying to say is for the majority of Americans who consume Whoppers, Ding-Dongs, etc., Sears' program appears to be the healthiest choice of the non-vegetarian diets advocated by the popular press.
1. Sears is avidly anti-ketogenic diets.
2. He is working with other groups to get trans-fatty acids out of our foods.
3. His research in caloric restriction parallels that of Roy Walford's. See http://www.infinitefaculty.org/sci/cr.htm or http://www.walford.com.
4. His protein and fat recommendations are lower than Atkins', in fact, far lower.
5. Sears doesn't recommend red meats or egg yolks due to the dangers or anarachondic (sp?) acid.
So from that perspective, is it is as bad as the critics are saying? Doctor?
Thanks!
