Subject: Zone Diet vs. Atkins--Isn't the Zone actually a healthy option?

Question on the Zone Diet: Dr. Sears' program recommends moderate levels of protein (especially when compared to Atkins), MUFAs & EFAs, limited amounts of processed carbs and the majority of your carbs actually come from fruits and vegetables. According to Sears, he actually would recommend people consume chicken breast, egg whites or fish, almonds or other sources of healthy fats and lots of fruits and vegetables, however, because the American people won't eat like that there are modified versions to account for those who eat at Burger King, etc. Not the best diet, but better than loading up on lots of Big Macs or Whoppers, large fries and shakes.

This, combined with the fact Sears' recommendations for caloric restrictions (see recent NY Times article on caloric restriction or any book by Dr. Roy Walford on caloric restriction) appears to be a far healthier dietary consideration than some people alledge. Or am I missing something...?

Thanks!
