A little over a year ago when a routine lab report indicated high cholesterol and high triglycerides, although it said something about the cholesterol reading not being accurate due to the high triglycerides, I began to pay attention to my fat consumption. Eventually I stopped smoking and I became vegan. Looking back to how I ate in the beginning of my low fat lifestyle makes me cringe now, so you can imagine how bad before that really was. I have read one of Dr. Ornish's books and one of Dr. Pinckney's. The only sugar I use now is a substitute called Sweet Thing, which is aspartame. I use no animal products, of course. I do still drink quite a bit of coffee, about 8 cups per day and recently I recalled having read something which led me to believe that coffee may be the culprit.
