Hi Linda,

have you read any of Dr. McDougall's books? You don't write what your diet consists of (beside the fact that it's low fat). Simple sugars also have a great influence on triglycerides and low fat animla products contain almost as much cholesterol as their high fat varieties.

Bilirubin is a liver value. Here is what Dr. McDougall writes about it in his book "The McDougall Program":

Total bilirubin (between .1 and 1.2 mg/dl) Bilirubin is a product of the breakdown of the red blood cells. It is elevated when a large and abnormal breakdown of red blood cells occurs and also when the liver is diseased and unable to adequately excrete it. ...

There is more but it seems as if a low bilirubin value indicates that you liver is fine, without relation to cholesterol. You only need to worry if bilirubin is elevated.

Hope this helps!
