that were left in the soil until March 12th had begun to rot. Those pulled the 3rd week of Feb. were OK, though. The first killing freeze killed the vines around Christmas time -- and I cut them back, leaving the tubers in the ground, soon after that.
Back to the seeds, a good number of the seeds (that I saved from my vines), which I planted in a flat, germinated the same time the purchased seeds did. I had feared my saved seeds had not matured enough by the time the first killing freeze had come, but, obviously, they had.
