as far as the time served and points, etc. My husband, before we were married, had quit going to the Reserves for a year because he had moved and wasn't close to a base. In fact, he didn't start going back until they offered him an airlift out of Huntsville so he wouldn't have to drive about 200 miles to the closest one for us, in Montgomery Alabama. He didn't have any problems when he stopped going or when he restarted. He retired with 20 years a few years ago.
Another point that gets overlooked is that Reservists, and I assume the National Guard also, can get weekends that fit in with their schedule. You can have reservists in the same unit, in the same building, who don't ever see one another because they serve on different weekends.
One of the accusations against Bush was that he was not seen by some of the other men.
