It was also removed from our highways because of the scofflaw whiners who prefer to use the freeways at their own speed, rather than the posted limit. It was working in reducing speed-related traffic accidents; but the spineless politicians crumbled. It cost the state (read, taxpayers) lots of money to cancel the contract, when a little tweaking of the system could have addressed most of the complaints. I have no problem with law enforcement monitoring my speed--they are also welcome to my telephone and email communications.
