"It's also illegal for anyone other than a trained police officer to write a ticket. Illegal." Where did you come up with that fundamental legal principle? If that is a hard-and-fast law anywhere, it can easily be amended, so that is a point hardly worth bringing up.

Neither was the point about the wife-beater. If he finds out about his wife from a regular cop, then it's ok? You might as well say that we should do away with school zones because the errant wife would be more easily "made" in a slowly moving car. Only liberals consider policy effects on sinners being found out.
