I'm all in favor on the cameras.
There's one intersection in my small town that has about who knows how many red light runners each day. It's next to the only grocery store, and across from the library. When school lets out, hundreds of kids cross there, and there is a crossing guard. You can stand there for a few minutes and count several cars and SUVs cruise through a red light. Sometimes 2 seconds after the light turned red.
If they had a camera, that would stop in short order. Nobody's been run down there so far, but who knows when that might happen?
For intersections like that, I'm all in favor of the cameras.
In Toledo, there's an intersection that was the worst in the state for accidents. They put in cameras, and the accident rate dropped like a rock.
