If someone got arrested once for owning a bag of pot, I don't think that should automatically bar him from ever having a military career. That shouldn't be considered an ultra serious crime. And stealing -- that's more serious in my opinion, but I don't think an isolated incident of shoplifting should necessarily exclude a person from joining the military. Some good people make mistakes.
