that appeared in one of the scenes from World War 2, in Ken Burns' "The War"? I saw it last week. The battle was on an island west of Manila, and was, as most of those island battles were, gruesome. One of our guys was digging the gold crowned teeth our of a still live Japanese soldier, with his knife. Another of our soldiers tried to stop him, whereupon the gold digger slit the enemy's face wide open to get easier access to his teeth. It was then that one of our soldiers put the poor guy out of his misery with a bullet to the head.

We might be soon hearing of things like that from Iraq and elsewhere.
