We won't pull out of Iraq until alternative energy systems are in place here. That could happen within 5-10 yrs if we put enough resources into the effort. Bush and company says that would ruin the economy. Well, a lot of people would see their stocks lose value, and their dividend checks shrink, but we'd be much better off in the long run. That is, global warming would be far off in the rear view mirrors of our electric cars. Electric cars powered by our solar, wind, and wave power. The real challenge would be to get China, India, Mexico, Canada, Australia, etc., to follow suit. If that happens, the Earth would be healthy again.
